1971 Datsun 510
The Datsun 510 is already an iconic sports sedan to plenty of American enthusiasts – but for those who grew up in the “tuner” era of the early 2000s, writer/engineer Dave Coleman made one ratty 510 particularly infamous – by featuring it in the now-defunct magazine Sport Compact Car as a project rally car.
Dave says it’s quite reliable, with the ’90s-era SR20DE drivetrain starting up easily even after sitting for some time. It needs plenty of work, of course – the safety equipment isn’t up to modern rally standards – but it’d be quite fun for rallycross.
Check out some video highlights of the car from Speedvision – speaking of long lost media properties!
It’s on eBay in Southern California with reserve not yet met.
