2004 Mazda RX8
Mazda’s rotary is a remarkable engine – lightweight, powerful, and revs nice and high. But it’s not the most reliable powerplant if not treated perfectly. It uses a good deal of oil, and the apex seals tend to wear badly.
The RX-8 is a great chassis in need of a more reliable engine – this builder chose a twin-turbo inline 6 from Toyota. Related to the 2JZ found in the last-generation Supra, there is plenty of power already, and room to make much more. It’s a clean swap, and looks to be a great toy. We want.
It’s on Craigslist in Northern Kentucky for $9k or offer.
