1200 Horsepower Ultima GTR

Most folks building track monsters use Chevrolet engines, and who can blame ’em? Whatcha need? 400, 500, 600, 700 horsepower? GM’s got what you need.

But when Heffner created this ultimate Ultima, they chose Fomoco.

Specifically, a twin-turbocharged Ford GT engine, putting the power down through a matching Ford GT Ricardo transaxle.

They quote 900HP on 93 octane, and 1200 running race gas. And if you worried about a “kit car” handing the pressure, don’t. The Ultima is a proven design, with earlier versions even being used as drivetrain mules for the best car ever- the McLaren F1. (See #3 here.)
