1987 Mitsubishi Starion ESI-R
Fat box flares. Angular, folded-paper styling. Wide, well-offset wheels. TURBO. These are the defining characteristics of sports cars in the ’80s. This Mitsubishi Starion has them all.
The Starquest twins – named for the Starion and the identical car sold as the Chrysler Conquest – had good handling, and decent power out of the 2.6 liter turbocharged inline 4, as well as a comfortable ride and eye-catching styling. This one has been well cared for – it’s been repainted once, and appears to be nearly showroom fresh. This is about as good as these get.
It’s on Craigslist on Long Island for $9k or offer.
A tip of the hat to the hive mind at the Obscure Cars For Sale Facebook page, who always seem to find the good stuff.
