Not Your Typical V8-Powered Z

Not Your Typical V8-Powered Z

1983 Datsun 280ZX

Usually, Chevy-engined Zs are earlier cars, especially the ’73 and ’74 which were hamstrung by hard-to-tune carburetors, but could be easily repowered with a smallblock. Not this time, however..the slightly bigger 280ZX has seen a crate engine infusion.

Beyond the bowtie on the rear decklid, little distinguishes this from an otherwise lightly modified ZX externally. The Konig wheels are not quite Minilite/Panasport replicas, but are well matched to this lowered Z. The interior looks superb save the slightly-cheesy surround for the newer CD player. While it’s not a modern LS V8, the crate engine (which appears to be the Ram Jet 350, producing around 350hp) should give plenty of performance. This looks like fun.

It’s on eBay in Colorado with reserve not yet met.
