Epitrochoidal Wheels? Oh My Yes.

1974 Mazda RX-3

That’s the technical term for the shape of a rotary engine’s housing, actually. We love that Mazda offered these funky Wankel wheels, and that they are fitted to this RX-3. It’s not often one finds an RX-3 anymore, actually..most of the ones left have been built into drag racers. This one might be headed that way, too – the very short description in the ad mentions a “9 inch” which we’d assume refers to a Ford 9-inch rear axle.

It looks like the seats from a much-newer RX-8 have been added, as well as a later, bigger 13B engine. It needs finishing, but it could be an enjoyable project.

It’s on eBay in Florida with reserve not yet met.1974 Mazda RX-3 interior 1974 Mazda RX-3 engine
