Bugeye Or Frogeye? Which Nickname Do You Prefer?

Bugeye Or Frogeye? Which Nickname Do You Prefer?

1960 Austin Healey Sprite

The first generation Sprite has long been called the Bugeye here in the US, but home in the UK most enthusiasts refer to the roadster with the raised, exposed headlamps the Frogeye. Which name fits best? Tell us below in the comments.

This Bug/Frog looks to have been nicely restored – the seller claims it’s not perfect, as there are blemishes in the paint, and an oil leak. That’s to be expected, especially with the leak. We love seeing the original steering wheel, rather than the¬†fancy wood-rimmed model usually fitted to restored Sprites and other roadsters – it’s a perfect throwback to this model’s budget roots.

It’s on eBay in Knoxville with reserve not yet met.
