A Corrado With An Upright Hatchback. Isn’t That A Golf?

1990 Volkswagen Corrado G60 Magnum

The Corrado was a lovely sporty coupe based on the second generation Golf platform, but with a hatch that laid closer to horizontal than the vertical hatch on the Golf. It’s no wonder, then, that VW found this Magnum prototype to not have a great business case for production.

Still, it looks magnificent, and the Corrado is a wonderful drivers’ car, even with the supercharged four cylinder in this car versus the VR6 in later models.

The price is likely to be steep – Car Throttle looked at these cars a couple months ago, where they were asking $50k each for the two prototypes they had.
