Now THIS Is How Car Companies Should Do Retro

1991 Nissan Figaro

So many modern retro-styled cars are slavishly beholden to their forebears that they seem almost cartoonish when blown up to modern car dimensions (turn your dictionary to Cooper, MINI for examples).

When Nissan brought out the limited-edition “Pike” cars, including the BE-1, S-Cargo, Pao, and this Figaro, they were clearly retro, but not exact replicas. They were thoroughly modern cars beneath, with a one-liter turbo engine from the Nissan March, but styled to evoke a different era. They sold like crazy in Japan.

This one needs some work on the leather seats, and the seller suggests a new top, but it’s just about perfect otherwise. No, we wouldn’t suggest taking it on a cross-country drive, but this makes such a perfect city cruiser.

It’s on eBay in Rhode Island for $11k or offer.
