Not Perfect, But Good Enough To Drive Without Worries

1973 Datsun 240Z

Datsuns of the ’70s are rust magnets, so to find one that isn’t covered in holes is refreshing. This Z has been patched up and repainted, and so should prove to be a bit of a bargain compared to the untouched jewels from the West. That’s really the sweet spot, we think, since it looks magnificent, but isn’t too nice to not drive.

The avocado green is a period-appropriate (and original) color, standing in interesting contrast to vinyl colored to match the Werther’s Original candies your grandpa always has in his pocket. The period-correct ARE Libre alloys are a perfect match – these are the wheels the BRE race teams used on the Z at the time. One very useful modification has been made – the carburetors have been swapped from the troublesome flat-top carbs to the early-style SU carbs, meaning this should have no driveability issues.

It’s on eBay in Ann Arbor with reserve not yet met.
