1987 Volkswagen Jetta GLI 16v
Basically, the Jetta GLI was the sedan version of the GTI – very little was changed other than the bodystyle. The 16 valve engine, as fitted to this car, added another twenty or so horsepower, and a willingness to rev that added plenty of fun.
One might look at this Jetta as a bargain alternative to a BMW E30. No, it won’t hang with an M3, but it provides similar interior size and trim, and fun driving character much like a base 3-series. Plus, there is a massive contingent of VW fanatics nationwide who will always seek out low-mileage cars like this – as long as it’s kept clean and straight, it’s hard to lose on this.
It’s on The Samba on Long Island for $5900 or offer.
