1973 BMW 1600 Touring
Americans don’t buy hatchbacks, unfortunately. It makes no sense. Plenty of extra cargo room, and a sleeker profile to boot? Sounds like a perfect fit for American car buyers. But they never seem to sell here.
Shame, because the BMW “Touring” line of hatches are lovely cars. This Alpina clone on a Touring shell is an absolute stunner. It seems quite faithful to the original Alpina cars, with big dual carburetors and the Alpina cylinder head featured prominently, as well as the iconic Alpina alloys. This is an awesome car we’d love to have in the COTD stable.
It’s on eBay in Southern California with reserve not yet met.
