Corvair engine… powering the front wheels?

1967 Glenn Pray Cord 8 10

When ACD-fan Glenn Pray designed his 1960’s Cord replica / neoclassic, he wanted to be faithful to the front wheel drive layout of the original Cord 810/812. He found the answer for his drivetrain in an unexpected place- the air-cooled, rear engine Corvair.

Moving the Corvair’s 2.7 liter flat six and transaxle to the front of his car provided a great solution, and also eliminated the need for finding room for a conventional radiator.
