1958 Rambler Cross Country

For a time, there was a fad among owners of modern compacts – especially Volkswagens, for some reason – to sand down and allow one body panel, typically the hood – to rust, leaving all other finishes pristine.

This Rambler wagon is the spiritual ancestor to those VeeDubs.

Special care was apparently taken to ensure that the faded/rusted/burned paint wasn’t disturbed. It looks strangely right. Mechanically, it seems to be properly sorted, with the original engine fitted. A modern V8 wouldn’t be out of place.

It’s on eBay in¬†Wisconsin with reserve not yet met.1958 Rambler Wagon engine 1958 Rambler Wagon blue rear quarter
