1982 Penske 10B - Car of the Day by Carchasers
Most vintage racers show up to an event with an old British sports car, or perhaps a Porsche. Some might even have a Lotus-badged Formula Ford. A sure way to be noticed is to unload a Penske from your trailer. Bonus points if you unload it from a single-axle open trailer behind an old station wagon.
This 1982 PC10B was on the front row of that year’s Indy 500, and has history with Kevin Cogan, Rick Mears, and Al Unser Sr. It’s not a winner, else it would be in a museum, but Penske always put out competitive, solid racers that should acquit themselves nicely at the eight-tenths pace of most US vintage events. It’s in great condition, sold with a fresh Cosworth DFX, so there should be little standing in the way of glory.
It’s on eBay in Idaho for $125k or offer.
