What Wasn’t And Probably Should Have Been: 1974 MGBGT V8

Though the States got most of the MGB production over eighteen years, there was one model that was never officially sold here – the MGBGT V8. That said, as the Rover V8 was readily available in many other British Leyland products, enthusiasts have been building V8 Bs for decades, some better than others.

This is definitely one of the better ones. Despite the rubber bumpers, this looks like a faithful imagining of what a federalized MGBGT V8 would have looked like. The paint has a bit of wear, the carb isn’t an SU, and the white faced Smiths gauges are a bit too precious, but otherwise, this is spectacular. The factory V8 alloys make all the difference.

At $25k, the price looks right. Find it on eBay in Texas.
