Volkswagen’s iconic Type2 Transporter / Kombi / Bus design has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years, with some examples selling for stratospheric and/or ridiculous prices at collector car auctions. Those of us who owned one in our youths can attest to the character-building characteristics of driving one, with terrifying directional instability, particularly at pseudo highway speeds, at the top of the list. With the same 94.5 inch wheelbase as the VW Type1 Beetle but a big box body design, crosswinds can easily push the bus from side to side, and sometimes even from lane to lane.
Now chop that already short wheelbase by two-thirds and you have a surefire recipe for one of the world’s most exhilarating rides, indeed as breathtaking to drive as it is to look at. But not in the same way. Consider the possibility that the custom logo is not a joke.
