Ford really pulled it off with the GT. Inspired by the company’s LeMans winning GT40 racers from the 1960’s, the GT was shown as a concept at the 2002 Detroit Auto Show, and the reaction was so strong that Ford almost immediately decided to build a production version. Two and a half years later, the first production GTs were shipped to dealers. In actuality the modern Ford GT has little in common with its predecessor except the general appearance, mid-engined configuration, and crazy-fast top speed- over 200 mph.
Just over 4000 GTs were built for model years 2005 and 2006, and this is one of the few that wasn’t loaded up by the ordering dealer with any of the four available options (painted stripes, painted brake calipers, upgraded stereo, and upgraded wheels). With only 83 miles on the odometer, this is certainly one of the lowest-mile GT’s available.
