Original AC Ace, “Cobra-ized” in the 60’s with Ford V-8, Jag IRS, et al.

Mr. Shelby’s revolution of cramming a Ford V-8 into the underpowered AC Ace is legend. And more than one AC owner followed his lead and upgraded their sedate rides into Cobra-ized versions. This AC was built in 1956, and converted in the 1960’s with a 289 with 4-speed tranny, plus brake and suspension upgrades including a Jag independent rear with inboard discs.

The rear flares are certainly exaggerated compared to “real” Cobras, but otherwise this looks pretty good, and is arguably more of a “real” Cobra than the various continuation cars made decades after the originals.
